Toyota RAV4 Towing Capacity

Drivers near Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, and sunny Palm Coast may be considering crossover SUVs for their next daily driver. Vehicles like the Toyota RAV4 offer a roomy interior and great capacity for light off-road driving.

But what does the Toyota RAV4 towing capacity look like? At Daytona Toyota, we want to give you a closer look at this essential feature. Our review will explore just how much the RAV4 is equipped to tow, as well as key features that will make the job a little easier for you!

2018 Toyota Rav42018 RAV4 Towing Capacity

The 2018 RAV4’s LE and XLE trims can tow up to 1,500 pounds when they are properly equipped. That’s plenty to tow a couple of jet skis to your favorite lakeside destination, or transport your cargo trailer on moving day. There are hybrid versions of those trims, and they can safely tow up to 1,750 pounds.

The new Adventure trim is the one to watch, however. It can tow up to a massive 3,500 pounds, which is enough to transport many campers and speedboats. When you’re towing those heavy loads in any trim, driver assist features like Blind Spot Monitor and dynamic cruise control make for a safer and more high-performing ride.

Adventure Grade’s Tow Prep Package

The RAV4 Adventure’s towing capacity advantage doesn’t just come out of nowhere. The Adventure tow prep package helps equip this trim to handle that kind of weight. It upgrades the radiator and supplements engine oil cooler and transmission fluid cooler to keep your systems from overheating as they keep your load in tow.

In addition to the prep package, you’ll get the Adventure’s all-wheel drive, plus dynamic torque control. With those features, you’ll have no trouble getting power to your wheels for optimum traction as you’re towing heavy loads.

Toyota Rav4 CargoCargo Volume and Features

To complement that impressive towing capacity, the RAV4’s cabin offers plenty of room for hauling even more items. Cargo volume in most trims is a generous 38.4 cubic feet behind the rear seats. When those seats fold down, that volume grows to 73.4 cubic feet. If you’re towing cargo trailers on moving day, you’ll save trips by taking advantage of this sizeable trunk, too.

The RAV4 Adventure adds a 120V/100W power outlet in the rear cargo area, which can power up any of your stored items while you’re driving. They’ll be fully charged and ready to go when you arrive at your destination. And 60/40 split-folding rear seats in all trims give you a more versatile storage space.
