Toyota RAV4 Dashboard Lights: High Priority

• BRAKE—Either your brake fluid levels are low, or the brake system is malfunctioning. When this lights up, visit your local Toyota service center so you can get back out on the road safely.
• ((!))—This light comes on when there is a problem with the parking brake, regenerative braking system, or electronically controlled braking system. Visit a certified Toyota technician for an inspection.
• Car battery—The charging system is experiencing trouble. Inform your nearest Toyota service center.
• Thermometer with lines in waves of water—This light and buzzer indicate the engine is starting to overheat. Stop your vehicle in a safe place and allow it to cool down.
• Rectangle with wavy lines above—The buzzer alongside this light shows that the hybrid system is overheated. Find a safe place to pull over and allow it to cool.
• Oil can with drop—The oil pressure in the engine has gotten low. Contact your Toyota technician crew for an inspection.
• Engine with CHECK—This light alerts you to a malfunction in the hybrid system, electronic engine control system, electronic throttle control system, or emission control system. In any of these cases, visit your local Toyota dealer for a diagnosis.
• Circle with person in seat belt—This means a problem was detected in the SRS airbag system, front passenger occupant classification system, or seat belt pretensioner system. Keep your passengers safe by having this inspected by your local Toyota experts.
• ABS—There is a problem either with the Anti-lock Braking System or the brake assist system. Your brakes are essential for keeping you and your car safe, so have them inspected when this light turns on.
• Steering wheel with ! —The Electric Power Steering system has a problem. Visit a certified Toyota technician as soon as you can.
• Foot on brake pedal, with gas pedal—When lit up alongside a buzzer, look to the multi-information display for instructions. This could mean a problem with the Brake Override System or Drive-Start Control System.

If this lights without a buzzer, the Brake Override System is operating. Release the accelerator and press on the brakes.

• HOLD—The brake hold system is experiencing difficulty. Have a certified Toyota technician check this out.
• “P” with radar lines, OFF—When lit alongside a buzzer, there is a problem with the Intuitive parking assist function. Without the buzzer, the system is temporarily offline.
• (!) with treads—If this blinks and then lights up steadily, there is a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system. This system helps warn you of tire troubles, so have a service technician diagnose the issue.

When lit with a buzzer, there is low tire pressure detected. Find your nearest service station and refill your tire. This could also signal a flat tire. In this case, pull over to a safe area.

Toyota RAV4 Driver Assistive Technology Lights

• Car with skid marks—This light shows an issue in the Trailer Sway Control, TRAC, Trail Mode, or hill-start assist control systems. Improve your stability with a visit to your local Toyota dealer.
• RCTA OFF—The Rear Cross Traffic Alert system is experiencing a problem. If the problem isn’t resolved by clearing the sensor on the rear bumper, stop by and see a service team member.
• Star above two colliding cars, OFF—When lit with a buzzer, the Pre-Collision System is malfunctioning. Visit your local Toyota dealership for a diagnosis.

Without the buzzer, this light indicates the PCS is temporarily unavailable.

• Two cars with radar, OFF—The Blind Spot Monitor System is malfunctioning. This convenient feature makes drives safer, so take your vehicle to a certified Toyota technician to get it checked out.
• Car driving out of traffic lane—This orange light shows that there is a problem with the vehicle’s Lane Tracing Assist feature. Check the multi-information display for instructions.
• Car with impact star, up arrow, OFF-—If coupled with “Parking Support Malfunction Visit Your Dealer,” there is a problem with the Parking Support Brake. See a technician right away.

If “Parking Assist Unavailable,” is displayed, this means the system is temporarily unavailable, possibly due to an obscured sensor.

RAV4 General Notice Dashboard Lights

• Gas pump—Your gas tank is running low. Stop at the nearest gas station to keep on driving!
• Person in seat belt—This warning turns on when the front passenger’s seat belt isn’t in use. Be sure to buckle up every time!
• REAR with three people in seat belts—This light reminds you to fasten the seat belts of rear-seat passengers.
• PARK—The parking brake may not be fully engaged. Simply release and rearm the parking brake.
