The Toyota Corolla is one of the most sought-after sedans due to its efficient performance and its array of fun and sophisticated features. If you’re considering this vehicle, you’re certainly headed in the right direction. But how do you know that it can keep you safe and provide the right protection while you’re out on the road in the Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, and Ormond Beach area?

Our team at Daytona Toyota is here to help by giving you a closer, more in-depth look at the 2017 Toyota Corolla safety features. We’ll be looking at the active safety, the passive safety, and even the Toyota Safety Sense™ P suite. By reading this review of the safety features, you’ll be certain as to whether or not this sedan provides enough protection.

2017 Toyota Corolla Active Safety Features

The active safety features of the Toyota Corolla fall under the Star Safety System™. This system consists of features like Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control. These features work together to provide the necessary brake pressure during scenarios involving wheel slip. The Electronic Brake-force Distribution is a system that actually varies the amount of brake pressure applied to both the front and rear wheels for better control. When it comes time for emergency braking, the Brake Assist feature will help you achieve full stopping power.

Passive Safety Features

The 2017 Toyota Corolla comes with a dependable airbag system with eight airbags. The driver and front passenger advanced air bags will help reduce the risk of airbag related injuries while providing sufficient protection by adjusting the inflation pressure to compensate for the force of impact. The vehicle also comes with side-impact airbags and side-curtain airbags for both front and rear row protection. The driver also gets an additional knee airbag.

Toyota Safety Sense™ P

The Toyota Corolla comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ P. This suite of driver-assisting technology includes the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection that uses front sensors to determine if an object is in your path. If it does detect an object, it will provide enough brake pressure to let you get the vehicle to come to a full stop. The Automatic High Beams activate when it senses low light, and they’ll even deactivate when another vehicle is approaching.

This system also features Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. This feature recognizes when your vehicle drifts from its lane and it will steer back into the correct lane. The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control allows you to set your speed, and even a distance from the vehicle ahead. Even if traffic ahead begins to slow, this system will maintain the distance without requiring driver intervention.
