Guide to the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival

Great live music and delicious food comes to life each year in central Florida, at the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival. This three-day event takes place on Flagler Avenue, with visitors going from club to club to enjoy the tunes and unique atmosphere.

We’ve compiled this convenient guide to this year’s festivities, and invite you to check out everything that’s going on during the 2018 edition of the festival.

Important Info to Know

The first time this festival took place back in September of 2001, founder Marc Monteson was looking to create an event to bring traffic to local businesses during a slow time of the year. The festival had grown to 24 venues by 2014, and has remained a staple each year.

The three days of music runs from September 21 to Sunday, September 23, 2018, at many locations throughout the area. There’s also a kick-off concert at the Historic Downtown Woman’s Club on Magnolia St., with Ray Guiser’s Volusia Saxophone Quartet, which is on Thursday, September 20.

Other Happenings at the Festival

The kick-off party is at The Grille at Riverview on Flagler Avenue, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on September 21. The Dave Capp Project will provide the musical stylings. Tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance, or $25 on the day of the event. This includes one trip to the hors d’oeuvres table and one free drink (domestic beer, house wine, or house well drink).

Beyond the first concert and kick-off party, all Flagler Avenue events are free admission. Music acts include the Steve Luciano Trio, Greg Parnell Group with Linda Cole, Jaime Hollis, Thin Film Magnetism, and the Danielle Eva Quartet.
